What is Bluetooth technology?
Bluetooth is a simple, inexpensive, and easy-to use technology. The technology was named after a 10th-century Danish king who enjoyed the tooth-staining blueberries. Bluetooth technology allows communication between two devices with each other in low-frequency radio waves of 2.4GHz range. There is no requirement of cables or wires for connecting the devices, however, the devices should be Bluetooth compatible. Unlike infrared ports, the Bluetooth connected devices need not be in direct line of sight, but need to be close to each other. Bluetooth devices do not require any additional expenses other than the cell phone to which the headset is connected. Bluetooth technology is also used to connect PCs to keyboards and mice, handhelds with other handhelds, and mobile phones to computers. Even cars are now equipped with Bluetooth technology so that the car audio system can be operated for hands-free cell phone functions also.
Let’s learn how to pair two Bluetooth devices. The process of connecting two Bluetooth devices starts with a process called pairing. Through this process the devices recognize the presence of the other. After the connection is set and secured via a PIN, the two devices can now start exchange messages with each other. The connection can be made to as many as seven devices at a time. A major drawback with Bluetooth technology is with regard to the range limit, which is only 30 feet. Hence, with Bluetooth technology one cannot an entire network of computers. However, Bluetooth technology is simple and easy to apply.
