Founded in 1998,
The CHJDF is a collection of memorabilia, papers, photo's and film documenting the California History of jazz dance.
The CHJDF is also home to the Dean Collins Archive. This collection could not have happened without the generous contribution of Mary Collins.
The Collection is used to help
preserve the roots of these dances and give credit to those that helped create them.
Current activities include the instruction of
historical dances, lectures and film presentations.
We also sponsor and take part in live
events as well as collaborate with other historians and educational
institutions to help preserve, record and promote the history and origins of dance.
Although the Foundation lacks the funding
to open its archive to the general public, other means are being found to
make its resources available.
