Dec 26th Update on the Video that's taking over the internet! As of today on Youtube.com we have Views: 12,290 |Comments: 28 |Favorite: 260 times, and on myspace.com we have 126,695 views and 103 comments i'm not sure how many time its been saved as a favorite. Not bad since posting the end of May! For the most part reading through comments proves its people that don't know who the dancers are, its also apparent allot of people already do some type of dance, which seems to be Hip Hop for the most part. The best part is seeing these modern dancers witness and give credit to this form of dance being a predecessor to what they are doing.
As for the Ugly "logo", I was messing around with clips and music honestly not thinking to much about it. Like I stated , I just dragged the music you hear on the clip into the time line and hit play...and that's what you see. I didn't mess with the music, timing or even try to line it up better. It was so funny , that I wanted to show some friends, but before doing so i wanted to cover the Time code at the bottom with something, anything! The Program i was using at the time was real bad and had these prefab title bars. I quickly just clicked on that filled it in and slapped it on there, not knowing much other then good its blocked.
Needless to say,i agree its not very appealing but that's how it was made last may on that day, without ever knowing it would be seen by so many people. So I apologies for the lame banner, but the point of the clip wasn't to share it to be able to "break it down", but rather show the flow of movement against this type of music. Now certainly I understand a clip can have it "all" and perhaps future clips can focus more on showing footwork and moves today's dancers can incorporate into what they do.
Anyway's, Just keeping up all updating on this amazing story of exposing AL ,LEON & Authentic Jazz Dance
Thanks, Peter

Original Article when the Video hit 50,0000 views

I'm proud to announce the Original Uprock Video I posted on Myspace has reached over 50,000 veiws!
I originally did this video years ago, and it sat on my hard drive. When myspace first offered the ability to upload video I searched for clip to add, to see how this feature worked.
This clip was one of a few that were part of a project with a goal of trying to get this style of dancing back into the mainstream. Both as an inner city dance as well as a dance that's recognized by our dance institutions.
Obviously, the dancing alone would never do it. As we know some of the best dance clips on the internet, in solo jazz, tap and Lindy Hop go viewed less then 1,000 maybe 5,000 times at best if left up long enough.
The music would have to be the avenue to popularity, and To find the correct music in which this form of Jazz dance needs to exist, I was immediately draw to what is commonly known as "Break beat".First, its dance music, and It not only fits in tempo but in the cultural energy that surrounds the dancing that's done to it.
Putting the two together didn't take long. Practicing both at home as well as locations that featured Turntablist catering to the "break-beat" dancing were fun and exciting.
this particular video was actually a total accident. To be honest ,using one of my favorite turntablist "DJ Z-trip" Songs , I just dragged the Music into the time line to get an idea what the tempo was like and how off it was, well, and this is what I got ....lucky.
The most important thing I've been able to achieve is what I first set out to do and that's share to as many people as possible what this dance looks like, those that created and lived it to the day they died.
The wonders of the internet have allowed me to touch and expose more people to Authentic Jazz Dance then I ever imagined...
